• The process of completing an IS project is known as systems analysis and design (SAD).
• Any SAD project involves four essential ingredients:
      – People     -   Methodology      -     Management     -   Tools
• Two most common approaches to Systems Analysis and Design
    ← Object-oriented analysis and design

Systems Investigation Stage
The Investigation Phase begins the preliminary study of the proposed information system solution to meet the e-business needs.   Its focus is to seek to answer the questions:
What are our opportunities?

What are our business priorities?
How can information technologies provide information systems solutions that can be used to address theses needs?

Because the process of application development can be costly both in time and resources, the system investigation phase begins with a Feasibility Study.   The goal of feasibility studies is to evaluate alternative systems and to propose the most feasible and desirable systems.

Organizational Feasibility:   This focuses on how well a proposed information system supports the objectives of the organization.
    – Specific features and interface requirements of the system defined

Technical Feasibility:   This ascertains whether reliable hardware and software capable of meeting the needs of the proposed system can be acquired or developed by the business in the required time.
    – Ensures hardware and software exist to build the system   - Hardware – Software - Network

Operational Feasibility:   This refers to the willingness and ability of the management, employees, customers, suppliers, and so on.

Artificial intelligence (AI)
